Helping Guatemalan families during the pandemic

Guatemala has been hit hard by the pandemic from the beginning. Despite the low number of infections in the country, numerous restrictions have been introduced. They consisted, among other things, in introducing a curfew after 4 pm - during the day you could only go out to the shop, doctor or pharmacy. For several months, public transport did not work, supermarkets, restaurants and hotels were closed. The country's borders were closed from March to September, causing huge losses to tourism, which until then had been the country's biggest source of income. All these changes introduced overnight meant that many families lost the ability to work and generate income. We were unable to help everyone. But we believe that if we help even one person, it will make a difference.
In April, we organized a fundraiser among our clients. Each paying person received a coupon worth their payment. In total, we collected over PLN 1,600 . The money was sent to Vicky and Gloria from the organization Nuevo Amanacer. The girls used the money they received to buy food and the most necessary hygiene products.
The products were donated to the most needy families in the village of San Andres Itzapa, where the organization operates.
On behalf of ourselves and the Nuevo Amanecer organization, we would like to thank you with all our hearts!

The collected funds were used to purchase, among others: beans, rice, pasta, eggs, sugar, flour, toilet paper, soap.

Perhaps not all precautions were taken during the transfer of help, but believe me , in a village that was cut off from the world, isolation , loneliness , insecurity and hunger were a greater threat than the virus.
